Impression Obsession DT Challenge: Favorite Technique

The Impression Obsession team's challenge today is to create a card that showcases one of our favorite techniques.

I used a fun mixed-media technique on this card, where I stamped the Poppy Bouquet image several times in a light ink, colored the flowers with Touch Twin Markers, then 'masked' the image by covering up the colored areas with a clear Sakura Glaze pen. After the glaze is dry, it will resist water-based mediums layered over it.

I stamped my favorite Damask Cover-a-Card stamp over the panel in dye ink, and did a little water blending with that. When the panel was dry, I dry-brushed some white acrylic paint over it to soften the coloring. I used the Border Duo 2 die for the upper border.

I love mixed media, but it's hard to document in blog posts! So many times the process is experimental, and sometimes filled with happy accidents... or accidents that need to be covered up! One of these days I'll put together a video with some basic theory, and a project from start to finish.

The card is lovely and the image stunning. Great technique ! I can't work out if the background behind the tulips has been stamped with a CAC or if it is the paper texture.

LOVE the soft watery look of this stamping technique. I don't own a Sakura pen but I'm thinking I should buy one just to try this out.

What a lovely card. Despite the bright cheery colours, on my laptop, it shows as delicate and muted. Delightful!
