Held

I've made it a goal this year to paint more, and I started by finishing off a painting that has been collecting a little dust since October....

I've titled this piece "Held", and the words written into the scarf/shawl are the chorus of a song called "Just Be Held" that struck me at just the right time. This painting is truly a work of heart, and a 'working out' of things I'm learning that aren't easily expressed in words.

When you're on your knees and answers seem so far away,
You're not alone, stop holding on and just be held;
Your world's not falling apart, it's falling into place.
I'm on the throne, stop holding on and just be held...

A few photos along the way... I used QoR watercolors to paint, and the words are done with Polychromos Pencils - just enough resist to show. I love working that little idea of journaling into a painting - I've done it with quotes and verses as well.

I will be ordering prints of this painting, so if you're interested, please click HERE to find the information you need, as well as other prints that are available for sale. I'd like to place the order Friday, so I'd love to hear from you before then!

Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Hi Maria! The prints are colored - they're a high-quality digitally printed copy of the original.

  3. Thank you for your beautiful artwork. It is a reminder of who I belong to, and that He is in control. We all have our times of trials, but this helps me to remember everyday that comfort and strength are mine because I belong to the King. Thank you for sharing, God bless you

  6. What a GORGEOUS PAINTING, Dina! It's WONDERFUL!!! AND Casting Crowns is one of my FAVORITE GROUPS!!!! ;) I should start trying this (painting) when a song touches me too. I seem to find a song for most of the big moments in my life. It helps me remember those times, like you with your painting. ;)

  13. Oh, Dina, this is so gorgeous and so deeply touching, and I can see why you knew when it was finished...when tears flowed! And I so love the song "Held" that truly touches me so deeply. I plan to order at least one and am heading over right now. I can attest to the quality of Dina's prints and how well they are shipped (in case anyone wonders). Hugs, precious friend, as we all remember that we are "held" in the arms of our Savior!
