I'm so blessed to be involved again with Splitcoaststampers' annual card drive, called Hope You Can Cling To. The challenges begin in just a few days, on October 1st!! Breast cancer affects all of us, and this month of challenges is such a blessing, and so close to my heart. If you're not familiar with this crafty cause, here's a little explanation from Splitcoaststampers:
"Splitcoaststampers is proud to partner with the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center for our fourth annual month-long card drive to benefit those affected by breast cancer.I've been busy with a group of beautiful ladies behind the scenes, helping to organize and coordinate challenges, hostesses and samples for this event - this is my favorite month of the year, and I'm excited to help direct so much love towards people who need a handmade touch of hope. Here is a card I've created as a sample for one the challenges, and I'll share more throughout the month. I do hope you'll consider joining us!
Whether your stamps cling to acrylic, wood, or to your hard drive, they hold the power to convey hope and lift the spirits of anyone who sees what you create with them. That is the inspiration for our “Hope You Can Cling To” stamping campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
We encourage papercrafters across the globe to put their talents to work creating beautiful handmade cards to send to patients and their families at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, and, in the process, turn our gallery pink!
Hope is powerful medicine."
I used a card kit left over from my days as a designer for Flower Soft - I have quite a stash of these kits, and they're beautiful, but I usually prefer to color my own images so I don't reach for them too often. For this card drive, though, it's not about me, and I'm happy to assemble a few of these layered scenes to brighten someone's day.
The challenges are easy and fun to participate in - more fun yet are the chatter and friendships built as thousands of cards are created to bless the patients and caregivers who will receive and give these cards.
Thanks for visiting me today!
