Serenity NOW!

Enjoying some days of serenity after a busy week last week... finally getting to that online class, finishing up some end-of-the-schoolyear paperwork... my desk is even sort of clean! Here's one of my CHA samples a bit early - Impression Obsession released some of the summer images in June, but they'll also be showcased at the trade show. If you're already looking forward to the rest of the new releases, mark your calendar - the Impression Obsession design team will be sharing sneak peeks from July 22-26, and there will be daily opportunities to win gift certificates!

This is one of Gary Robertson's newest images called Heron - I was inspired by vintage tri-colored book illustrations, and watercolored the image using Shinhan Premium Watercolors, in just 2 colors - Cadmium Yellow Deep and Vandyke Brown. White highlights were added by creating a resist with a clear glaze pen, and also with a white Pitt marker. To carry on the book theme, I used a book page for a background panel... it's not a vintage book... just one that got partly chewed by rats...

Hope you're inspired!
Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Incredible image, and using just two main colors? Wowzers Dini! I was just trotting along reading until I hit the 'rats chewed it' part. So when life gives you rats, make heron cards :D Love it!
